Wouldn’t that be fantastic? It can happen.
Media really is a gamechanger. It changes not only how the world sees you—but how you see you.
You’re proud of the work you do.
You need more people to know about you.
So, how do you break in and become
the go-to expert the media wants to hear from?
You need to know:
We have an approach to getting and keeping media attention.
We’ve not only helped other people do it—we’ve used it ourselves to grow our own brands!
Why should you listen to us?
We know how the media works. And we should know—we have nearly 3 decades of media experience between us, and we’ve not only worked in media ourselves, we’ve also pitched the media as experts.
One half of our two-woman team is Paula Rizzo, an Emmy award-winning senior producer. And years ago, she was searching for new on-air talent for her news show when she received a pitch for an expert she’d never met—a magazine editor from Martha Stewart named Terri Trespicio.
She gave Terri a shot—and was impressed; Terri knew her stuff and delivered like a pro. So she had her back again. And again.
Not long after, Paula pitched Terri a story about how to use lists to be more productive—based on her new blog, listproducer.com. Terri loved it—and ran it in the magazine…giving Paula her first national magazine coverage ever.
One day, the two of us met for up for sushi—and the rest, as they say, is history.
Not only have we both worked as media gatekeepers and as media contributors, we know the challenges experts face, and how they’re missing out on major media opportunities for reasons no one is telling them.
Until now.
We know what it takes to be a go-to guest—something not all experts or even all PR pros grasp, and no one in the media has time to teach you.
And we’re going to show you exactly how to do it.
We know how to create—and become—“media darlings.”
Paula has literally booked thousands of segments and experts throughout her career in local and national news. She’s the author of Listful Thinking: Using Lists to be More Productive, Highly Successful and Less Stressed. She’s a productivity coach and speaker. Paula’s appeared on Fox News, The Better Show, Oprah.com, The Good Life, Fast Company, and contributes to MindBodyGreen and Entrepreneur.
Terri is a seasoned media coach and branding pro who has worked with experts from every industry on how to distill their core messaging and stick the landing on their media appearances. She speaks nationally and has appeared on the Today Show, The Early Show, Dr. Oz, and Anderson Cooper, and has contributed to a range of publications including Business Insider, Prevention, Marie Claire, Oprah magazine, and Jezebel. Her TEDx talk, “Stop Searching for your Passion,” has more than 2 million views.
Terri Trespicio co-creator, Lights Camera Expert
“I had a good career as an editor—but once I started doing media, everything changed. My very first national TV appearance on the Martha Stewart Show alongside Bill Clinton was not just thrilling—it set me on a different path. After that segment, I got booked on tons of other shows—including Paula’s! I also went on to host a daily radio show and have been contributing in the media ever since.”
Paula Rizzo
co-creator, Lights Camera Expert
“I’d been working in TV for years as a producer when I launched my own blog, listproducer.com. When I used what I knew about producing to pitch my own content, I got lots of media coverage—magazines, blogs, and TV. I went on to publish a bestselling book, Listful Thinking, which has been translated into 11 languages.”

FAQs
How do I know this program is right for me?
You love what you do—but you know you’re meant to do something bigger, and want to share your insight and expertise with a bigger audience. While it’s not necessary that you have media experience, you’re excited at the idea of doing it! You’re willing and able to try a fresh approach to sharing what you do—and collaborate with media professionals to serve their readers and viewership. You also consider yourself “coachable”—meaning, you’re able to learn and apply new insights, even if they may lie just outside your comfort zone.
The people who end up being the most successful in media don’t possess any secret knowledge—they simply have a real desire to share what they do, and want to learn the best way to do it. We’ll tell you everything you need to know!
I haven’t written a book. Does that matter?
Nope! While having a book is a great platform, you don’t have to have a book to GET booked. You have to have a platform—meaning, something to stand on, an opinion, a mission, something to share or teach, but it doesn’t have to be blessed by Simon & Schuster.
What if I don’t have any previous media experience?
That’s ok! We work with people new to the media all the time. In fact, this is a great way to get started. Don’t worry about a sizzle reel yet. We can show you the basics for getting booked no matter what your background is! And while producers do want to see how you are on camera, you happen to be living in the age of DIY video! There’s plenty of affordable—scratch that—free ways to broadcast yourself right now! With just your smartphone or laptop, you can create content that gets media attention.
I have done some media before. Will I get anything out of this course?
Absolutely. Having some on-camera experience or being quoted in a magazine is great—but there’s so much else to learn about being in the media that is rarely taught. If media has found you, that’s terrific! The key is being able to get the attention when YOU want it, not just when they do. We know plenty of seasoned contributors who’ve never pitched themselves and have no idea how to do it, for instance. Or have only worked with PR pros and haven’t initiated those media contacts themselves. Trust us—we’ve even had PR pros tell us we changed how they approach the media.
I don’t know anyone in the media. Is that a problem?
Not at all! We don’t expect you to have friends in the business. We’re teaching you how to approach the media cold by relying on proven techniques that help you get the attention of producers and editors with your pitches, positioning, and ideas. Once you can do that, you will know people in the media, because they’ll look forward to hearing from you!
What if I plan to hire a PR person?
The strategic use of a PR professional makes sense, especially with a book release—but it’s not in everyone’s budget to keep one simply on retainer ongoing. There are tons of experts who get booked daily, and regularly, without the help of a hired gun. When you learn the basics and sharpen your skills, you really can gain the media’s attention. As we say, we are not a replacement for PR! But what we can promise is that you’ll get more out of your PR efforts when you know what they know.
